1e. Can you make a diagnosis without the use of the microscope?
1a. white-tan, focal region of neoplastic growth surrounding and infiltrating normal mammary tissue
1b. white-tan, pink focal region of neoplastic growth surrounding and infiltrating normal mammary tissue
1c. focal dark brown region of neoplastic growth; on the right side a large cavity (post necrotic cavitation)
1d. focal white region of neoplastic growth forming a mass
1e. Probably not, but if you see necrosis, cavitations and macroscopic stromal peripheral invasion they are probably malignant. The final diagnosis must always be histopathologic. Sometimes indirect immunohistochemistry is necessary.
