Below is a gross photo and a photomicrograph of kidneys are from an old rat with chronic progressive nephropathy.

Remember that old rats commonly die from chronic renal failure and these kidneys are typical of idiopathic end-stage renal disease. End-stage kidneys are remarkably similar for all mammalian species.

5a. Systemic effects of chronic renal failure are known as uremia. List some morphologic diagnoses for uremic lesions.
Clinical signs
(polydipsia, polyuria, malaise, halitosis, vomiting, and diarrhea) are NOT lesions.
