2e. Describe how these carcinomas will metastasize.
2a. tubular mammary gland adenocarcinoma
2b. mammary gland squamous cell carcinoma
2c.papillary mammary gland carcinoma
2d. solid mammary gland carcinoma
2e. All types of mammary adenocarcinomas tend to infiltrate the stroma and eventually to invade lymphatic vessels and metastasize to regional lymph nodes and then even further. Malignant canine mammary tumors tend to metastasize in roughly 50% of the cases if overlooked. The anaplastic mammary carcinoma is the most aggressive, followed in order by simple solid, simple papillary and simple tubular. When stromal infiltration is seen, lymphatics may be already invaded in some cases (especially with anaplastic and solid tumors).
