
Sole abscess is also called "Pododermatitis circumscripta"
It is a circumscribed area of hemorrhage and necrosis:
- typically in the posterior 1/3 of lateral claw of the hind feet
- bone surface of the lateral distal phalanx is rougher than medial
- frequently involves both hind feet, seen as shifting weight side to side
- often seen along with heel erosion and interdigital dermatitis
- soft discolored area -> perforation
- granulation tissue may protrude
- 2* bacterial invasion of the corium
If really severe or deep -> get avulsion of the deep flexor tendon
Treatment:
- trim and medicate
- wooden block/Technovit
